Hi there! I see that you're having an issue with your screen going black while using the Washington Post app. Let’s see if we can get this sorted out.

To start, could you tell me a bit more about when this happens? For example, does it occur when you are trying to read an article, or does it happen intermittently while navigating the app? Also, have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far, like restarting your device or reinstalling the app? That info will help me guide you better!

The screen goes black when I am reading articles. I hit the X at top left and the story I was reading comes back. It’s been has been happening frequently for the last week.

Thanks for sharing those details! Since the screen goes black while reading articles, it appears this might be a specific issue with the app or your device settings. Let’s try a few troubleshooting steps that could resolve this:

1. Update the App: Make sure the Washington Post app is updated to the latest version. Go to the App Store, tap on your profile picture in the top right corner, and swipe down to check for updates.

2. Restart the App: Before restarting your iPhone, force close the Washington Post app. Swipe up from the bottom (or press the home button on older devices) and swipe the app off the screen. Then reopen it.

3. Adjust Display Settings: Sometimes, display settings like auto-brightness or low power mode can create issues. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness. Check if the auto-brightness is on or off and try toggling it.

4. Check Night Shift or True Tone: If you're using Night Shift or True Tone, try disabling them temporarily. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness and see if these features are affecting your viewing experience.

5. Reinstall the App: If the problem persists, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Washington Post app. Simply press and hold the app icon and select "Remove App," then download it again from the App Store.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, it might be worth contacting Washington Post support directly at [email protected] for further assistance. There could also be other variables at play within their platform, which they might have specific insight into.

Let me know how it goes! Are you satisfied with the solutions I provided?
