Hi! Thanks for reaching out. You mentioned that the Radio UK app works okay on your Mac running macOS 10.15.7 (Catalina), but it slows your Mac down badly. To get a better handle on this, can you tell me:

- When does the slowdown happen? For example, only when the app is running, or does it continue after closing it?
- Are other apps also slow, or is it just the Radio UK app causing the issue?
- Have you noticed any other symptoms, like fan noise, high CPU usage, or memory spikes when you use the app?
- Lastly, have you already tried any fixes for this?

This info helps me diagnose whether the app itself is using too many resources or if there might be underlying system factors at play.

Meanwhile, a few quick steps you might try to ease the issue:

1. Close other apps running in the background to free up RAM and CPU.
2. Restart your Mac to clear temporary files and refresh system processes.
3. Check Activity Monitor (found in Applications > Utilities) when the Radio UK app is running—look for the app’s CPU and Memory usage. If it’s unusually high, that confirms the app is resource-heavy.
4. Make sure your Radio UK app and macOS are up to date with the latest versions; sometimes updates fix performance bugs.

If the problem persists, I can walk you through more advanced steps like checking app preferences for any intensive settings, or resetting some macOS system caches.

Let me know what you observe or any steps you’ve tried!

Once launched all other apps slow down. Radio UK runs at 1.77GB which seems rather high.

Thanks for the details! Seeing Radio UK app using around 1.77GB of memory is quite high, especially on macOS Catalina (10.15.7), which might explain why all other apps are slowing down when it's running.

Let’s try to manage this step by step:

1. Close and Restart the App
Close the Radio UK app completely. You can do this by right-clicking its icon in the Dock and choosing "Quit," or from the Radio UK menu, select "Quit." Then, restart the app and watch Activity Monitor again to see if memory usage spikes immediately or grows over time.

2. Check for Memory Leaks or Excessive Cache Usage
Some apps gradually consume more memory due to inefficient memory management ("memory leaks"). Since this app runs okay but consumes a lot of RAM, a temporary workaround is to restart it regularly to free up memory.

3. Reset App Preferences or Clear Cache (if possible)
Does the Radio UK app have preferences or cache clearing options? Sometimes accumulated cache contributes to high RAM use. If available, try clearing these within the app’s settings.

4. Update the App and macOS
Make sure both your macOS 10.15.7 and the Radio UK app are updated to the latest versions compatible with your system. Sometimes updates address performance and memory issues.

5. Limit Other Background Processes When Running Radio UK
To reduce overall memory pressure, avoid running many other heavy apps concurrently while using Radio UK.

6. Consider Reinstalling the App
If the high memory usage persists, uninstalling and reinstalling the Radio UK app can sometimes resolve corrupted files or settings causing memory bloat.

7. Advanced: Activity Monitor and Console Logs
For deeper troubleshooting, keep Activity Monitor open to study CPU and RAM use, and check Console logs for any error messages when Radio UK is active.

If after trying these steps, the app still drains memory excessively, the issue may be with the app’s optimization itself. In that case, reporting this to the Radio UK developers for a fix is a good option.

Would you like me to guide you through checking cache or reinstalling the app on your Mac? Or do you want to explore what other background tasks might be impacting your Mac’s performance while Radio UK runs? Let me know!
