Hi! I understand you’re seeing none of your past years of results for Spelling Bee, Wordle, and Connections in the NYT Games app—it sounds like it’s starting fresh for you. Let’s see if we can figure out what’s going on together.

First, just to clarify:
- Is this happening on the Macintosh device you’re using with OS X 10.15.7?
- Are you signed into the app with your usual NYT account that you used previously? Sometimes game progress ties to the account you’re logged into.
- Have you recently updated the app or the OS? Sometimes updates affect data syncing.
- Are you seeing this issue with just those three games, or others as well?

Here’s a step-by-step approach we can try to get your past results to show again:

1. Check Account Sign-in:
Make sure you are logged into the app with the exact same New York Times account you used before. You can do this usually in the app’s settings or profile area. The game progress and history are linked to your account.

2. Refresh or Restart the App:
Force close the app completely—quit it from the menu or use Command + Q. Then reopen it. Sometimes the app needs a restart to sync your data correctly.

3. Check for Updates:
Go to the App Store or wherever you downloaded the NYT Games app and see if there’s an updated version. Installing the latest update can fix syncing issues.

4. Review Internet Connection:
Ensure your Mac is connected to the internet and that there are no firewall settings blocking the app’s connection to NYT servers.

5. View Past Puzzles in App:
In the Spelling Bee game, for example, the app usually has a “More” button in the toolbar where you can select "Past Puzzles" to review previous results. The absence of past puzzles sometimes means the game data hasn’t synced on your device yet.

6. Clear Cache or Reinstall:
If none of the above work, try signing out, uninstalling the app, then reinstalling it and signing back in. This can refresh the data sync and restore your game history.

If after these steps your past results still don’t show up, there may be a temporary syncing issue or a server-side problem affecting game history retrieval. In that case, I can help you escalate this to NYT Games support for a closer look.

Let me know which of these steps you’ve tried already or if you want me to walk you through any of them! We’ll get you back to your saved puzzles and scores.

I’ve done all that. The games are obviously affected by the cloud outage today. I want to know when the problem will be fixed.

Thanks for letting me know you’ve already tried the usual steps. The issue you’re experiencing with missing past results for Spelling Bee, Wordle, and Connections is linked to a widespread cloud outage affecting many apps and services today, including NYT Games.

From recent updates, this outage is related to Amazon Web Services (AWS), which hosts much of the cloud infrastructure that NYT Games relies on. The outage began early this morning and has disrupted many websites and online games globally.

The good news is that AWS is reporting signs of recovery, and services are gradually coming back online. However, some disruptions are still ongoing as they complete the fix and full restoration. Many users across different platforms have reported similar issues today with game syncing and logins, which fits what you’re seeing10 9.

Unfortunately, an exact time for full restoration isn’t usually provided publicly in advance, but the situation is actively being addressed. I recommend checking the NYT Games Twitter account or status page for real-time updates. If you want, I can help you monitor this and let you know once the service is back to normal.

Would you like me to assist you in keeping an eye on this, or help with anything else meanwhile?

Hi again! I see you're still not seeing your past results for Spelling Bee, Wordle, and Connections, and it feels like the app is treating you as a new user. Since you've already tried signing out, updating, and reinstalling, I wanted to share some additional ideas based on the latest information.

Here’s what you can do next:

1. Double-check you’re logged into the correct NYT account: Your past game data is linked to your NYT subscription account. Sometimes users accidentally log in with a different email. You can verify this in the app’s settings under your profile.

2. Access Past Puzzles directly:
- For Spelling Bee, tap the "More" button in the game toolbar, then select "Past Puzzles." This lets you view puzzles you’ve completed, even if the results page isn’t showing history correctly in other views.
- For Connections, you can try visiting the Connections archive on the web to see past puzzles and scores.
- Wordle's history is usually saved on the device, but if the app says you’re starting fresh, it might be due to corrupted local data.

3. Clear local app data (cache): Sometimes the app’s local data gets out of sync. On Mac, you'd need to log out, then delete app support files before logging back in:
- Quit the app.
- Open Finder, press Command + Shift + G, and enter ~/Library/Application Support/
- Find the NYT Games folder and move it to the Trash.
- Reopen the app and log in again. This forces the app to fetch fresh data from the server.

4. Check for any ongoing outages or server problems: There have been reports of cloud outages affecting game syncing. This can cause loss of history temporarily. While the service is restoring, your history might not appear correctly. You can visit the NYT Help Center or community forums for status updates.

If after these steps your past results still don’t show, there might be an underlying syncing issue that NYT’s support team can help with directly. Feel free to reach out to them at [email protected] with your account details, and they can investigate further.

Would you like me to guide you through clearing the app data step or help check your account login details? Let me know!
